About Azadegan
The name Azadegan which appears repeatedly in epic Shahnameh of Ferdousi, is synonymous with "Iranians". We have chosen this name in commemoration of the late nationalist and secular, General Dr. Bahram Ariana. Shortly after the 1979 revolution and usurping of power by the clerics , Dr. Ariana with a few civilian and military compatriots, including myself, founded the Azadegan organization in Paris. The purpose of the organization was the liberation of Iran from the despotic and regressive rule of the clerics and the establishment of a democracy in Iran. With the passing of Ariana in 1985 the torch dimmed, and activities of the organization came to stand still. A few years ago we re-ignited the torch to help achieve the noble hopes and aspirations of the Iranian people. Dr. Assad Homayoun |
